Ida Glass: Today on our show, we hear the stories of some American immigrants. From New Orleans, it's These American Lives. I'm Ida Glass. And let's just get to it.

Speaker 1: I moved to Miami 60 years ago, where I played college football.

Speaker 2: I followed my brother to Louisiana, but unfortunately he didn’t make it… I got here just before all those Greeks came over.

Speaker 3: I immigrated to New England in the 90s. I found work in home remodeling.

Speaker 4: I came over to the Houston area for an air traffic control job. It must have been 40 years ago.

Speaker 5: I moved to Louisiana two months before that big election. I’m a big fan of renewable energy, and I’ve been involved with Just Stop Oil.

Ida Glass: Wow, what inspiring stories. These immigrants truly earned their retirement.
